Rhonda Ford is featured at Artists’ Gallery in March; opening reception on First Friday

CHESTERTOWN — On First Friday, March 6, and throughout the month of March, The Artists’ Gallery will feature one of its exhibiting artists, Rhonda Ford, in her newest body of work, “Terra Verte.”

A native Marylander, Ford, who grew up in Howard County, has drawn and painted for as long as she can remember.

After graduating with a degree in fine arts from the University of Maryland at College Park, she moved to Annapolis where she took her first job with the Middleton Gallery of Fine Art and then transitioned to Garfinckel’s Department Store as its visual merchandising manager.

Over the next 30 years, Ford worked in the marine industry designing and fabricating upholstery for sailboats. During that time, she met her husband and they raised a family.

After moving to the Eastern Shore, Ford returned to her first love of painting.

Ford became an exhibitor with The Artists’ Gallery in July of 2020.

She is a member of the St. Michaels Art League, The Academy Art Museum in Easton, The Working Artists’ Forum in Easton and the Dorchester Center for the Arts.

She enjoys painting with the Plein Air Painters of the Chesapeake Bay and continues to jury into the Fine Arts in Oxford Show and Local Color at the Tidewater Inn in Easton.

Ford loves to paint in plein air [open air, outdoors], and participates in events each year.

In 2026, she will be doing Easton Plein Air, Paint Ocean City and Paint Worcester County.

She participates in the Adkins Plein Air event in November every year, as well as the Lower Shore Land Trust Garden Tour that happens every June in a different location each year within the lower Eastern Shore.

She finds it great fun to paint in an assigned garden spot and talk with the tour participants.

The Artists’ Gallery invites the public to its opening reception for Ford from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 for light refreshments and to meet the artist.

The Artists’ Gallery is located at 239 High St. in downtown Chestertown. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays.
