KENNEDYVILLE — The annual members meeting of the Historical Society of Kent County will take place on Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. at Shrewsbury Parish.
Established in 1687, Shrewsbury is one of Maryland’s original 30 Anglican parishes and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986.
The current building, erected in 1835, is an example of Gothic Revival architecture. Stained-glass windows and a bell tower provide stunning additions to the church.
The remains of two earlier churches also are on the site.
Shrewsbury Parish is located at 12824 Shrewsbury Church Road, Kennedyville.
After a brief business meeting and the election of new board members and officers, Robert Bryan will talk about the history of the church. A reception and an opportunity to tour the building and cemetery will follow.
This year’s meeting will highlight the importance of volunteering, with recognition of outstanding volunteers and opportunities to get involved.
Light refreshments will be available.
This is a members-only event. To RSVP, see https://www.tickettailor.com/events/historicalsocietyofkentcounty/1657253.
