Robey named interim CEO and president of Peoples Bank

CHESTERTOWN — Randall M. Robey, CPA, has been appointed interim chief executive officer and president of Peoples Bancorp Inc. and The Peoples Bank.

Corey N. Duncan, chairman of the board of directors of Peoples Bancorp Inc., parent company of The Peoples Bank, announced the leadership change in a news release Wednesday, April 10.

Robey’s appointment follows the resignation of J. Scott Sturgill, “and is in accordance with the board’s management succession plan,” according to the news release. 

Sturgill had been the bank’s president and CEO since May 2021.

Robey has served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Peoples Bancorp Inc. and The Peoples Bank since 2012.

He began his community banking career in 1981 with Mercantile Bank and Trust.

In the April 10 news release, Robey said “the management team and employees will continue their strong service to the customers, shareholders, and communities served by The Peoples Bank.”

The Peoples Bank opened its doors in 1910, and currently has seven branches in the tri-county area of Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot.
