ROCK HALL — The Main Line Opera Singers from Philadelphia have planned an afternoon of arias, duets and ensemble pieces from operas and musical theater for their debut concert at The Mainstay in Rock Hall later this month.
“We are very excited to bring voices of opera music to Rock Hall and the Eastern Shore. We are especially excited to sing at The Mainstay, a world renowned artistic venue,” Judge Jimmy Lynn, the concert sponsor, said in a news release.
“Our operatic concert will be a first for Rock Hall,” he said. “We hope to see many music lovers — not just opera lovers — at the concert to experience this great musical art form.”
The concert is Sunday, Nov. 23, beginning at 4 p.m.
Tickets, $20 plus $1.40 processing fee, can be purchased in advance at mainstayrockhall.org/shows.
There will be a cash-only bar for cocktails, wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks before the performance and at intermission.
Sopranos Teresa Anstatt, Christy Sutton and Andrea Broido with baritones Enrico Adriano and Jimmy Lynn make up The Main Line Singers; all have performed at nationally and internationally recognized venues. They will be accompanied by Philadelphia pianist and opera coach Tim Crawford.
The concert will begin with the entire cast performing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” and will conclude with the entire ensemble’s rendition of the Italian favorite “O Sole Mio.”
What has been described as a “thoughtful and eclectic program” will include arias and duets from Gounod’s “Faust,” Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” Puccini’s “La Bohème” and a duet from Delibes’ “Lakmé.”
Other popular pieces will include Schubert’s “Ave Maria,” “Think of Me” from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera and another Rodgers and Hammerstein favorite, “Climb Every Mountain” from The Sound of Music.
The Mainstay is located at 5753 North Main St. in Rock Hall.
This concert is part of The Mainstay’s Classical Music Series.
