CHESTERTOWN — The Rotary Club here is hosting its seventh annual “Soup & Sip” fundraiser at Chester River Yacht & Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 26 from noon to 3 p.m.
The event, which benefits the “One School, One Book” program for Galena Elementary School, will feature local eateries offering samplings of their signature crab soup recipes — cream of crab and vegetable crab — in addition to a variety of local wines.
Guests will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite soups.
The cost of $25 includes a wine glass, 10 tastings and a raffle ticket for a wine and soup prize basket.
Tickets can be purchased at the door; there are no advance sales.
CRY&CC is located at 7738 Quaker Neck Road, Chestertown.
“This event provides an opportunity to get acquainted with some of the local restaurants and meet local business leaders while helping to provide local students with reading materials to aid with their education and feed their interest in reading,” Jamie Williams, Chestertown Rotary Club’s project chair, said in a news release.
“The Chestertown Rotary Club is a huge supporter of education and educational causes, and we are happy once again to present this popular event to raise funds for this worthwhile cause,” Williams added.
Larry Vetter is the club president.
The news release states, “The Chestertown Rotary is proud to support ‘One School, One Book’ as it illustrates the power of reading together to build connections with families and community. It also develops a child’s positive relationships with literacy and cultivates learning. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this wonderful event.”
