CHESTERTOWN — The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association reports that three Washington players have received All-Metro Region recognition.
Senior attacker Mia Salvatierra of Bel Air [Fallston High School] was placed on the elite first team, while senior attacker Piper Evans of Chestertown [Queen Anne’s] and senior midfielder Anna Wilson of Jarrettsville [Bryn Mawr] earned a spot on the second team.
This is the first all-region recognition for all three Shore ladies.
The Division III All-Metro Region consists of schools in the Atlantic East, Centennial, Landmark and Middle Atlantic conferences.
Salvatierra started all 17 games for 10-7 Washington, leading the team in assists [39] and points [84] while placing second in goals [45].
She tied the program record of seven assists in a single game in the 17-13 win at Centennial Conference rival Ursinus on April 6.
In 69 career games, all starts, Salvatierra totaled 168 goals and 104 assists for 272 points — second in program history in points, third in assists and fifth in goals. Her line also included 75 ground balls and 60 draw controls.
She is the 2026 female recipient of Washington College’s Eldridge Eliason Award as the student with scholastic standing in the upper half of the class who has accomplished the most in the field of athletics.
Evans also started all 17 games for the locals, leading them with 56 goals. She handed out 16 assists

In all-star voting by the Centennial Conference’s nine head coaches, Salvatierra and Wilson were placed on the first team, Evans was placed on the second team and senior midfielder MaryCate Anson of Newark, Delaware [Newark Charter] received honorable mention.
To maintain fairness and avoid bias or conflicts of interest, the Centennial Conference rules dictate that each head coach must cast their ballot exclusively for players from opposing institutions, though coaches may nominate their own standout players for consideration.
Washington, 4-4 in conference games, lost to Swarthmore in the first round of the Centennial tournament, 16-7.
Salvatierra three-peats as an all-conference performer, moving up from the second team in 2024 and ’25. She led the conference in points per game [4.94].
Evans and Anson received All-Centennial recognition for the second year in a row, while Wilson is a first-time All-Centennial honoree.
Also, senior attacker Malery Andrews of Ocean City [Stephen Decatur] represented Washington on the conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team. Andrews [38-5-43] appeared in 16 games, all starts.
Anson, who started all 17 games, led Washington with 101 draw controls — equaling the program’s single-season record set by Emily Docktor in 2019. Her line also included 31 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and 12 points on nine goals and three assists.
In 70 career games, with 55 starts, Anson totaled 292 draw controls, 137 ground balls, 53 points [34 goals and 19 assists] and 48 caused turnovers.
She holds the school record for career draw controls, surpassing the previous record of 212 set by All-American Emily Hubley ’15 and equaled by Abby Laubach ‘24.
Maintaining a 4.0 grade point average as a double major in biology and environmental science through the fall 2025 semester, Anson was the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for field hockey.
The scholar-athlete of the year is the All-Centennial performer with junior or senior standing who has the highest cumulative grade point average.
Anson also was the 2025 scholar-athlete of the year in women’s lacrosse.
At the college’s annual Shore Awards, Anson was co-recipient of the Thomas Reeder Spedden Award presented to one or more senior student-athletes for academic standing and outstanding achievement in athletics.

Salvatierra punctuated an outstanding career with selection to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Senior All-Star Game last month at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks.
She and her Blue teammates were defeated by the White team, 10-5, on May 30.
Because these exhibition all-star events are designed to showcase graduating seniors rather than maintain rigid individual statistical records, full box scores are not tracked or published.
Salisbury goalkeeper Paige Ellis earned MVP honors after shutting down the Blue Team in the second half, recording an unofficial nine saves while allowing just one goal during her 30 minutes in net.
