WORTON — Kent County High School’s Brigade of Blue marching band is halfway through its two-week preseason, what to insiders is known affectionately as “Band Camp.”
The band’s show theme this year is “Lost in TV Land” and features theme songs from hit television shows “Hawaii Five-0,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” “The Simpsons,” “Mission Impossible,” “Pink Panther” and “Friends.”
Band Camp started Monday, Aug. 10 and Director Jodi Bortz reports that in just one week the 25 musicians and six-member color guard already have learned the first half of the show.
“This is a big accomplishment,” Bortz said.
“I’m really excited about this year’s group of kids. They are young but have really great attitudes and are working really hard,” she told The Evening Enterprise.
Drum majors are Noelle Demby and Ben Hinton.
The Brigade of Blue’s first public performance will be at halftime of the first football game of the season here on Friday night, Sept. 4.
