Seed swap events at all 3 Kent library locations

CHESTERTOWN — Ready for spring and thinking about what to plant in your garden? Then you will want to attend one of the community seed swaps at the Kent County Public Library locations.

If you didn’t save seeds last year, you are still welcome to attend.

You do not have to bring seeds in order to receive seeds.

If you do bring seeds, please be sure that they are labeled with the plant’s name and any other helpful information so that other swappers know what they are getting.

This year, there will be three seed swap events — one at each Kent County Public Library location:

Chestertown Branch
408 High St.
Saturday, March 1, 10 a.m. to noon

North County Branch
119 N. Main St., Building E, Suite 3, Galena
Thursday, March 6, 2 to 4 p.m.

Rock Hall Branch
21258 Rock Hall Ave.
Monday, March 10, 2 to 4 p.m.

In addition to free seeds, books on gardening and other garden goodies will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis at each seed swap.

Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your plant-related questions and to provide tips for best practices related to gardening in our region.

These events are presented in partnership by the University of Maryland Extension Master Gardeners, Washington College’s Center for Environment & Society and Kent County Public Library. They are also made possible, in part, by Library Services and Technology Act funding provided by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Maryland State Library Agency.

If you need reasonable accommodation to participate in any event or activity, contact Paul Rickert at prickert@umd.edu or call the University of Maryland Extension Office at 410-778-1661.

University programs, activities and facilities are available to all without regard to race, color, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, political affiliation, physical or mental disability, religion, protected veteran status, genetic information, personal appearance or any other legally protected class.
