CHESTERTOWN — Washington College junior Nathan Rawa [Lansdale, Pennsylvania] is the Centennial Conference men’s swimmer of the week for the second time this season, and third time overall.
The latest recognition comes for the week of Jan. 25-Feb. 1 when Rawa in two meets separated by less than 24 hours won four events, established three pool records and bettered his own program best in an event.
On Friday night, Jan. 30 at home against No. 17-ranked Salisbury, Rawa lowered his own school record in the 100-yard individual medley and set two Casey Swim Center records.
He won the 100 IM in 52.44 seconds, establishing program and pool records with a time that is third best ever in Centennial Conference history. He held the previous school record of 52.93.
Also in the meet against Salisbury, Rawa won the 100 butterfly in a pool record of 50.61.
The following afternoon at conference rival Ursinus, in the final meet of the regular season, Rawa won the 100 breaststroke in a William Elliott Pool record of 58.72. He also won the 400 IM and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay.
Ursinus held on to win the meet, 107-96, after winning the final event, the 400 free relay.
Heading into the final event, Ursinus held a slim 94-92 lead.
Washington finishes 3-8.
Next up is the Centennial Conference Championships, Feb. 19-22 at Franklin & Marshall.
