Short-sleeve sunny

BETTERTON — With cloudless skies and the mercury flirting with 80 degrees, we had to check our calendar on Tuesday, March 10 to make sure it was still wintertime.

It seemed as if we had skipped spring — the seasons officially change March 20 — and landed in summer, complete with folks walking the beach at Betterton.

The fun in the sun, and sand, will be short-lived, however, because by mid-week a cold front will bring a high chance of showers (50-70%) and gusty winds up to 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will drop significantly, falling into the 50s by Thursday.

The forecast for Friday and Saturday is clearer skies and much colder, with highs in the low 50s and lows dropping to near 30 to 40 degrees.

Temperatures may moderate slightly over the weekend, with continued chances of rain.
