Slice of Americana

This photograph, taken on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 25, doesn’t need any explanation.

It’s a slice of Americana that can be found in many parts of Kent County; the United States flag on display, a working barn and anything John Deere are well-known American cultural icons.

There’s apple pie and baseball, too.

  1. I was curious about the 15 star flag on this barn. Wirh help from Google I learned that the 15 star flag flew over Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 and inspired the writing of the National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. This flag flew from 4 July, 1795 to 4 July, 1818 even though five more states would join the Union during that time.
