CHESTERTOWN — While schools were shuttered and government buildings in Kent County were closed Monday, Jan. 6 due to snow, the mail was delivered.
Our photo was taken on Kent Street in the area of Mount Vernon Avenue in the late afternoon as this mail carrier embraced the U.S. Postal Service’s informal motto, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
About 5 inches of snow fell in Kent County on Monday during the day.
The National Weather Service’s forecast is cloudy with snow likely this evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Look for areas of blowing snow after midnight with snow accumulation around an inch.
Chance of snow is 70%.
Brrr, it will be cold with temperatures as low as 20 degrees. The wind will be out of the north at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
On Tuesday, look for clear skies but areas of blowing snow. It will be cold with highs in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
Schools in Kent County will be closed again on Tuesday.
