Special BOE meeting Jan. 23 to discuss superintendent search

ROCK HALL — The Kent County Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday, Jan. 23 for the purpose of discussing the search for a new schools chief.

The board at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Jan. 8 approved the retirement of Superintendent Karen Couch, effective at the end of June. This is one year earlier than Couch’s current contracted end date of June 30, 2025.

The meeting, to begin at 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Kent County Board of Education Administration Building, 5608 Boundary Ave., Rock Hall. The meeting is open to the public to observe, but the public will not be permitted to speak.

The meeting will be livestreamed.
