WORTON — Favorable weather and field conditions this week have allowed Kent County High School athletes in the spring sports of baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis and track and field to practice outdoors.
Pictured here is freshman baseball player Jake Stumph on the hill Wednesday at the high school’s Spry Field.
KCHS’ baseball team, led by first-year head coach Mike Iacona, will host Bo Manor in a scrimmage March 17 at 4 p.m. while the softball team, led by first-year head coach Katie Boardman, will travel to Bo Manor for a scrimmage.
Both teams will open on Friday, March 20 at Pocomoke.
Also of note, KCHS’ girls lacrosse team, led by first-year head coach Jim Egan, will open at home March 20 against North East. Game time is 4 p.m.
Iacona, Boardman and Egan were assistant coaches last season.
Practices for spring sports began on March 1 in less than ideal conditions — snow- and ice-saturated fields and dull and drab weather.
