State qualifiers Hawkins, Hoxter, Peterson and Wilson return for KCHS track

STEVENSVILLE — Kent County High School opened its outdoor track and field season March 25 with a four-school meet at Kent Island High School. It was a showcase for some of the Trojans’ established stars, such as 2024 state qualifiers Ke’yare Hawkins,  Kamari Hoxter, Ramon “RJ” Peterson and Rah ‘Zir Wilson, and the introduction of some runners and jumpers we’re sure to be reading about over the next couple of years.

The meet also was the debut of KCHS head coach Lakesha Hoxter.

She’s got a robust roster of 13 girls and almost twice as many boys, a mixture of veterans and first-timers.

Heading that list is program record-holders Hawkins (shot put and discus) and Wilson (long jump), as well as Peterson, who established and re-established the indoor 300-meter record this winter.

While there were no records set in the season opener, Peterson was just 2 inches off the triple jump mark of 43 feet, 5 inches that was set in 1983.

Printed here are complete results for Kent County High School. Top 10 place-finishes also are noted.
