Upgrades to Sudlersville Park include QA’s 1st futsal court

SUDLERSVILLE — The park here has been upgraded with the addition of new futsal, basketball and two pickleball courts and a renovated tennis court.

The futsal court at Sudlersville Park is the first of its kind in Queen Anne’s County.

Futsal is a scaled-down version of outdoor soccer — a 5v5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball-sized court with a smaller, low bounce ball.

It is played with touchline boundaries and without walls.

The futsal court has lighting, fencing and goals.

Renovations to Sudlersville Park began in late August.

The project’s completion was announced in a Nov. 9 news release on the Queen Anne’s County website.

Sudlersville Park consists of  36.5 “scenic acres” located at 200 East Main St., according to the news release.

In addition to the upgraded sports facilities, the park provides multipurpose fields for soccer and lacrosse; baseball/softball diamonds; horseshoe pits; and volleyball courts.

The park’s amenities also include a 1-mile paved walking trail; a playground; a picnic area equipped with grills; and a reservable pavilion.
