ROCK HALL — The Kent County Board of Education’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 12 will begin at 4:30 p.m. in open session.
According to the agenda that is posted on the Kent County Public Schools website, there will be a discussion about the search for a successor to Superintendent Karen Couch, Ed.D., who announced last month that she would retire at the end of June — one year before the completion of a third contracted full term.
At a special meeting on Jan. 23, the board in open session approved a contract for the Maryland Association of Boards of Education to serve as the search consultant. The vote was 4-0; board member Aretha Dorsey did not attend the meeting.
At the Monday, Feb. 12 meeting, approval of a search timeline as recommended by the consultant and approval of a superintendent stakeholder survey also are listed as agenda items.
The board will go into closed session at 5:30 p.m. The open session will resume at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the Kent County Public Schools administrative building, 5608 Boundary Ave. in Rock Hall.
