FAIRLEE — A 17-year-old male now living in Delaware has been charged as an adult with armed robbery, assault and related crimes.
Dymiere Isiah Clements is accused of robbing a Fairlee area man of money and a cellphone at gunpoint.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office served Clements with an arrest warrant on Sept. 12. He initially was held in the Kent County Detention Center without bond.
The offenses are alleged to have occurred in the early afternoon of April 30 in the 23000-block of Baywood Court.
Clements was 16 at the time and living in the Rock Hall area.
According to the charging document, detectives with the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division identified Clements as the suspect after interviewing the victim and a neighbor and viewing surveillance footage.
“After consulting with the Kent County State’s Attorney’s Office due to Clements’ status as a juvenile, I am respectfully requesting an adult District Court arrest warrant,” Cpl. Nate Blazejak wrote in the charging document May 1.
Clements was arrested on the following charges: first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony-violent crime, theft, $100 to less than $1,500, handgun on person and a minor in possession of a firearm — in addition to armed robbery.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said the delay in serving Clements with the arrest warrant was a combination of him evading police and having been held in Delaware after violating the conditions of his probation in that state.
Clements was held on the Kent County District Court warrant in Delaware and then extradited to Maryland, where he was served the warrant on Sept. 12.
