Tilley, Nelson share Shore Regional Health’s nurse of the year recognition

WYE MILLS — Claudia Tilley, MSN, RN, APRN-CNS, AGNS-BC, and Amanda Nelson, BSN, RN, CCRN, are this year’s recipients of the Nurse of the Year award presented by University of Maryland Shore Regional Health.

UM Shore Regional Health is a member organization of the University Maryland Medical System.

This year’s Nurse Excellence Awards ceremony was held at Chesapeake College.

‌Nelson and Tilley were chosen by an independent panel of judges from more than 100 nominations submitted by team members.

The award recognizes nursing excellence achieved through leadership, professionalism, commitment to others and commitment to patient experience.

Collaboration and Teamwork: Kira Johnson, BSN, RN, SANE-A, Women and Children’s Unit, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton

Nursing Practice & Professionalism: Claudia Tilley, MSN, RN, APRN-CNS, AGNS-BC, Professional Nursing Practice Department, UM Shore Regional Health

‌Art of Caring and Relationship-Based Care: Amanda Nelson, BSN, RN, CCRN, Emergency Department, UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown

Promising Professional: Hannah Fountain, BSN, RN, Emergency Department, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton

DAISY® Award for Nurse Leaders: Mary Collins, BSN, RN, ‌2 East Multispecialty Care and Dialysis, UM Shore Medical Center at Easton

DAISY® Award for Nurse Educators: Diana Neal, BSN, RN, CEN, Emergency Department, UM Shore Regional Health at Cambridge‌

“I am extremely proud of all of this year’s Nurse Excellence Award nominees and winners. These exceptional nurses are a testament to the mission and values of Shore Regional Health and demonstrate a true commitment to the highest levels of patient care,” Danielle Wilson, BSN, RN, NE-BC, chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient case services, said in a written statement.

‌Another highlight of the program was the presence of UM Shore Regional Health members of the Maryland Nurse Honor Guard. Led by Pam Pardun, BSN, RN, nursing support specialist, the honor guard called attention to seven retired UM Shore Regional Health nurses who were in attendance at the event: Cathy Asche, Julie Bryan, Ruth Ann Jones, Sharon Stagg, Stacey Stanley, Ruth Sullivan and Diane Walbridge.
