CAMBRIDGE — Leading up to this week’s state track and field championships, athletes from 17 public high schools on the Eastern Shore — including Kent County High School — competed in the Bayside Conference championships May 5 and May 7. In every event, medals were presented to the top three place-finishers and ribbons were presented to those who placed fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth.
KCHS brought home medals in six events, led by high jump and 100-meter champion Rah ‘Zir Wilson.
RJ Peterson [triple jump], Ke’yare Hawkins [shot put], Janey Depp [1600 meters] and the 4×800-meter relay of Joey Homyack, Kiyan Hynson, Trent Johnson and Pacome Mennetrier placed third in their respective event.
Depp was fourth in the 800 and 3200 meters, Peterson was fifth in the 200 meters and Homyack was eighth in the 1600 meters.

GIRLS
100 meters: Sarai Thomas, 14.54; and Devynn Wiggins, 14.87.
200 meters: Thomas, 31.50; and Wiggins, 33.25.
400 meters: Wiggins, 1 minute, 11.04 seconds; and Izabella Hinefelt, 1:13.28.
800 meters: Janey Depp, 2 minutes, 35.72 seconds, fourth.
1600 meters: Depp, 5 minutes, 47.26 seconds, third.
3200 meters: Depp, 12 minutes, 55.56 seconds, fourth.
100-meter hurdles: Delilah Markovic, 19.87.
300-meter hurdles: Hinefelt, 59.00; and Reese Strong, 1 minute, 1.71 seconds.
Shot put: Ke’yare Hawkins, 33 feet, 3.75 inches, third; and Sydney Bortz, 17-10.75.
Discus: Hawkins, 79 feet, 7 inches; and Bortz, 42-10.
BOYS
100 meters: Rah ‘Zir Wilson, 11.05, first; Bryce Jacobs, 12.49; and Dylan Hurtt, 12.98.
200 meters: RJ Peterson, 23.14, fifth; and Eli Wilson, 27.56.

1600 meters: Joey Homyack, personal best of 4 minutes, 53.10 seconds, eighth; and Joshua Na-El, 6:07.31.

300-meter hurdles: Alfonso Candelas, 52.97.
