WORTON — Kent County High School’s field hockey players rush to greet sophomore goalie Aiyanna Copper on Wednesday, Oct. 15 to celebrate their 1-0 victory at home against North Caroline.
This was the Trojans’ second win in seven days, with Copper posting her second shutout and senior McKenna Messick scoring her second game-winning goal.
Freshman Keelyn Clayton had the assist on Messick’s goal, which was scored off a penalty corner with 12 minutes, 54 seconds remaining in the first half.
The Trojans finished with a season-high 21 shots.
Wednesday was Senior Day for Messick and her classmates Tess Fuchs and Grace Gerstung.
“Unbridled joy” means pure, intense happiness that is not controlled or limited. It is an unrestrained, overwhelming feeling of great pleasure and delight, often expressed openly. The term “unbridled” comes from the word for a horse’s bridle, which is used for control, so “unbridled” literally means “without a bridle” or “uncontrolled.”
For example, a sports team achieving a milestone victory — in this case the KCHS field hockey team on Wednesday getting its first win at home in four years — might experience unbridled joy.
