CHESTERTOWN — The Shelter Alliance will host a community meeting on Thursday, May 21 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Christ First United Methodist Church.
The aim is to provide updates on homelessness response efforts, community partnerships and planning for Kent County’s first 24/7 year-round homeless shelter.
Community members, local leaders, faith organizations and service providers are invited to attend and learn more about current initiatives, emerging homelessness data and coordinated efforts taking place throughout the county.
Do you know someone who is unhoused, facing housing instability or in need of support? Are you interested in helping strengthen homelessness response efforts in Kent County? If so, this meeting is for you.
Christ First United Methodist Church is located at 401 High St. in Chestertown.
There will be an introduction of new staff and board members; an update on emergency shelter and rapid rehousing efforts; 2024–2025 homelessness data in Kent County; and discussions about future shelter efforts, community partnerships and volunteer opportunities.
The Shelter Alliance’s mission is to provide year-round shelter for homeless and unhoused individuals, with a continuum of programming designed to move clients from dependency toward self-sufficiency.
“As we continue building toward that vision, The Shelter Alliance has also developed coordinated pathways toward stability for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community,” said Executive Director Kimrose Goodall.
Since November 2024, The Shelter Alliance has provided emergency shelter support, rapid rehousing assistance, case management services and essential resources to individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout Kent County.
The Shelter Alliance is a component fund of Mid-Shore Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
