Washington’s Gestole is conference’s Offensive Player of the Week in men’s lacrosse

LANCASTER, Pa. — Washington College junior Peyton Gestole is the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week in men’s lacrosse.

He’s the first Shoreman to earn this honor since April of 2024.

A 5-foot-8, 210-pound attackman from Sudlersville, Gestole [23-11-34] leads the team in points and is second in goals and assists. He has appeared in 10 games with nine starts.

Gestole totaled six goals and six assists in the 2-0 week for the Shoremen, who improved to 9-2 on the season and 3-0 in the conference.

The nine wins are the most in a single season since 2017 when Washington finished 9-7.

In the 15-9 win at Ursinus on March 25, Gestole led all players with five goals and eight points. He scored two goals and assisted on three others in the first half as Washington built a 10-4 lead, and helped to salt away the win by scoring three more goals as Washington closed the game on a 5-3 run.

Saturday at Franklin & Marshall, the Shoremen wiped out an early 3-0 deficit to prevail, 14-9. They scored six goals in a row to take a 6-3 lead with 3 minutes, 10 seconds remaining in the opening quarter, with Gestole contributing one goal and one assist. He would finish one-and-three, and had the assist on Talan Behler’s goal with 52 seconds remaining in the first half that would prove to be the game-winner.

This is Gestole’s first year as a Shoreman.

He played as a freshman at NJCAA champion Harford Community College and as a sophomore at NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne in North Carolina.

Gestole graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School, where he was a first-team All-Bayside Conference player.

Picked to finish sixth in the Centennial Conference in the head coaches’ preseason poll, Washington now sits atop the nine-school CC and is one of only two schools to be unbeaten in conference play.

Washington has won four games in a row heading into Saturday’s contest at home against Centennial rival Muhlenberg (0-2 CC, 5-6). The opening face-off is at noon.
