OWINGS MILLS — Seniors Piper Evans and Mia Salvatierra collectively scored seven goals in an 8-0 run to start the second half, fueling Washington’s 14-10 victory Saturday at Stevenson.
This was the first women’s lacrosse game of 2026 for the Shore ladies, while the host Mustangs (1-2) were playing their third game in 10 days.
It was a game of runs with Washington scoring four goals in a row to take a 5-2 lead with 7 minutes, 6 seconds remaining in the second quarter; Stevenson answering with the next four goals to pull ahead, 6-5, at intermission; Washington opening the second half on the 8-0 tear for a 13-6 lead; only to have Stevenson close on a 4-1 run.
The game turned on the Evans-Salvatierra show in the third quarter, when Washington efficiently scored eight goals on nine shots while holding the home team to only one shot.
Evans unassisted found the back of the net with 4:38 elapsed in the quarter to tie it up at 6-apiece.
Senior midfielder Anna Wilson, also unassisted, scored the go-ahead goal 1:12 later.
Washington led the rest of the way.
Salvatierra scored three of the last four goals of the third quarter, all unassisted.
Washington’s lead swelled to 13-6 on Salvatierra’s solo run with 44 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Stevenson got on the stick 46 seconds into the final frame, and would close the game on a 4-1 run.
Junior attacker/midfielder Ava Treakle scored two goals and assisted on another to spark the Mustangs’ comeback bid in the fourth quarter.
Treakle finished with three goals, completing her hat trick with 3:15 to play with what would prove to be the last goal of the afternoon.
Treakle’s first goal, unassisted with just under six minutes to play before intermission, kicked off Stevenson’s 4-0 run to close out the first-half scoring.
Stevenson and Washington traded goals on the way to a 2-2 deadlock after one quarter.
Evans, an attacker from the Chestertown area, gave the Shore ladies their first lead at 3-2 with an unassisted goal 4:09 into the second quarter.
Junior midfielder Lis Braswell unassisted and Salvatierra from Wilson scored in succession to extend the spread to 5-2 with 7:06 remaining in the first half.
Evans [Queen Anne’s County High School] and Salvatierra [Bel Air, Fallston] each finished with five goals and collectively had three assists for the winners.
In a solid all-around effort, Wilson [Jarrettsville, Bryn Mawr] totaled two goals on four shots, one assist, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls
Junior Maddy Kissinger (six saves) notched her first collegiate win; this was her first start for the Shore ladies.
