CHESTERTOWN — Kent County High School’s swimmers closed out their regular season with a sweep of their guests from Cambridge-South Dorchester on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the YMCA in Chestertown. It was Senior Day for the Trojans, whose girls and boys collectively won 15 of the 19 events.
In the girls meet, KCHS won all eight events it entered and placed one-two in the 50 and 100 freestyle for a final score of 60-35. The Trojans shared the wealth as Mary Jane Joiner, Emi Karlik, Lyric Frase and Brenna Thorpe each won at least one individual event and collaborated for victory in the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
Tucker Ervin was the top performer for KCHS’ boys, heading the 100 free and 100 breaststroke and leading off for the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Andy Messick led the 200 free and was second to Ervin in the 100 breast, and joined Ervin, Lynden Saunders and Nate Sutton on two winning relays.
Saunders was first to the wall in the 100 butterfly and 500 free, helping the Trojans win the meet, 64-41.
