NEWARK, Del. — Delmarva Power on Wednesday, Jan. 14 announced the expansion of its customer relief fund in collaboration with local nonprofit partners.
An additional $500,000 will be added to the existing fund supporting customers across Delaware and Maryland.
The additional contribution comes from the utility’s parent company Exelon and brings Delmarva Power’s direct customer assistance efforts to address energy affordability to $6.5 million in the past year, according to a news release.
In Maryland, funding is available through Delmarva Power’s partnership with Harford Community Action Center, the Salvation Army, Shore UP! and the United Way of Delaware.
Grants in Maryland have been increased from $300 to $500 per eligible customer.
Additional information about how to apply for these funds can be found at delmarva.com/ReliefMD.
In Delaware, customers with gas or electric service can receive up to $300 and customers with both gas and electric service will now be eligible for up to $500 in relief. For more information, see delmarva.com/ReliefDE.
The funding comes as winter weather continues to drive higher energy use and costs across the region.
Previous recipients will automatically receive the difference between their original $300 grant and the new $500 maximum, credited directly to their account.
Updated eligibility requirements also have been introduced to ensure more customers can access this support.
