CHESTERTOWN — A 25-year-old Glen Burnie man was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown for treatment of injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning, Dec. 28 in the 300-block of Maple Avenue.
According to a Kent County Sheriff’s Office news release, Josiah Ethan Utz lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Blazer in the area of the Super Soda Center, ultimately striking a utility pole and gas pumps.
Utz was treated at the Chestertown hospital and then released, according to a sheriff’s office spokesman.
The vehicle sustained “disabling damage,” according to the news release.
Utz was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol; driving while under the influence of alcohol; driving while under the influence of alcohol per se; and driving, attempting to drive while so far impaired that he cannot drive safely.
He also was charged with failure to obey properly placed traffic control device instructions; failure to drive on the right half of the roadway when required; reckless driving; negligent driving; exceeding the maximum posted speed limit, 65 mph in a posted 30-mph zone; failure to reduce speed on a curve; failure to reduce speed in dangerous weather, road conditions; and a seat belt violation.
The crash occurred at 12:44 a.m.
