GALENA — The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating what has been determined to be the intentional detonation of an explosive device inside a mailbox in the 13000-block of Gregg Neck Road.
The incident was discovered by the property owner at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4.
No injuries were reported.
The cost to replace the mailbox and post is estimated to be $80, according to a news release from the fire marshal’s office.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office was the initial responder but has turned the investigation over to the fire marshal’s office, Sheriff Dennis Hickman told The Evening Enterprise.
