CHESTERTOWN — Washington College’s Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience, in collaboration with the Maryland 250 Commission, is inviting the public to hear four historians share their stories about the importance of bringing our dynamic past into a complicated present.
The event will take place at the Kent Cultural Alliance on Saturday, April 5 from 3 to 4 p.m.
The KAC is located at 101 Spring Ave. in downtown Chestertown.
There will be light fare provided, and guests will have a chance to talk with experts in the field of living history. All are welcome.
Michael Idriss from the Museum of the American Revolution will bring his experiences in engaging the public in historical storytelling while emphasizing the mission of the museum to uncover and share compelling stories about the diverse people and complex events that sparked America’s ongoing experiment in liberty, equality and self-government.
Alexa Price from Historic Ships in Baltimore will share her experiences of working in the Inner Harbor and educating the public about 19th century life at sea with one of the most impressive collections of military vessels in the world.
Kenneth Gavin is the commanding officer of Spencer’s Additional Regiment, which was an American infantry unit that served for four years in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Gavin is a reenactor with stories to tell.
Skyy Simeron is a graduate of the Living History Youth Summer Camp from the Museum of the American Revolution where high school and college students who are passionate about history participate in educational programming, theater, visual arts, communications and even costume design.
