WORTON — Kent County Junior Wrestling is sending 17 elementary and middle school grapplers to the MSWA Youth State Championships this weekend at the civic center in Salisbury. They punched their tickets to states by placing third or better at qualifying tournaments at McDonogh School in Owings Mills and Kent Island High School.

Donnie Yerkie ’01, a two-time state champion for Kent County High School, is in his fifth year as the head coach. The top assistant coaches are KCHS wrestling alumni Jacob Kirwan ’01, also a state champion, and Artie Kaehler ’03, a state place-finisher.
