CHESTERTOWN — Washington College’s Athletics Department, in partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, will host a first-ever girls flag football skills clinic on Saturday, May 9 at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium on the college campus.
The clinic will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and run through 11:30 a.m.
Afterward, the college’s athletics department will host a lunch for players; this is included in registration.
The clinic is open to all girls ages 12 to 18 who are enrolled in a public or private school on the Eastern Shore. Everyone is welcome, whether you are brand new to the game or looking to sharpen your skills.
There is no cost.
“Girls varsity flag football is expanding rapidly nationwide and the Baltimore Ravens and Washington College are building awareness of these programs at this clinic,” a news release states.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of flag football — including passing, catching, route running and defensive techniques — in a fun and supportive environment. They also will have the opportunity to meet and interact with mascots Poe the Raven and Gus the Goose.
Pre-registration is recommended but not required.
Participants should plan to arrive at Kibler Field before 8 a.m., to check in or to register. All participants must have a signed [by a parent or guardian] permission form in order to take part in the clinic.
