Students and staff — and parents, too — are pondering the likelihood of a good old-fashioned Snow Day tomorrow as Kent County experiences its first “real” snowfall of the year Monday.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Mid-Shore counties of Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot and Caroline until 4 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.
The forecast is for mixed precipitation, i.e., additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze, according to the National Weather Service.
Plan on slippery road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, a wintry mix may briefly change to plain rain late Monday night before changing back to a wintry mix before tapering off Tuesday morning.
Kent County Public Schools has three inclement weather days built into its 2023-24 academic year. The school system used its first bad weather day last week because of the strong wind and flooding that accompanied the severe winter storm of Jan. 9-10.
