Superintendent McComas to talk about priorities for KCPS at Aug. 20 meeting of county Dems

CHESTERTOWN — Kent County Public Schools Superintendent Mary McComas will speak at the Thursday, Aug. 20 meeting of the Democratic Club of Kent County.

The public is invited.

The meeting will be held at Sumner Hall, located at 206 S. Queen St. in downtown Chestertown.

McComas will provide an update on the project to build a new Kent County Middle School, and discuss her priorities for academic growth, community engagement and the challenges facing public schools in today’s rapidly changing educational landscape.

Kent County is the smallest school district in Maryland in terms of students [1,690] and schools [three elementary schools, one consolidated middle school and one consolidated high school].

Since beginning her four-year term with KCPS in July 2024, McComas “has invested significant time and effort in reaching out and listening to concerns and building relationships with parents, concerned citizens and community groups all across the county,” a news release states.

On Aug. 20, doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for social time, followed by a brief business meeting at 6:45 p.m.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. and conclude around 8 p.m.
