Tynette Christy ’95 returns to KCHS as graduation speaker

WORTON — Tynette Christy will deliver the commencement address at alma mater Kent County High School on Friday, May 30.

“I’m incredibly honored and grateful to be chosen as the 2025 commencement speaker for Kent County High School, a place that played a significant role in shaping the person I am today,” Christy ’95 said. “Having the opportunity to speak to the graduating class is a full-circle moment that fills my heart with joy.”

She and husband James are the parents of four KCHS graduates.

Plus, Christy worked as the school’s guidance secretary from 2008 to 2016.

Driven by a deep desire to help others, Christy earned a degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix.

She is a grief counselor for Compass Regional Hospice, providing compassionate support to individuals and families navigating loss.

In addition to her counseling work, she is an entrepreneur who runs a jewelry business. She also co-hosts the podcast “It’s Rare Talk.”

Christy has a strong faith background and attends Work In Progress Ministries in Millington, where she was ordained as an elder in 2023.

For more than 18 years, she has been actively involved in her church, serving on various committees.

Christy is deeply committed to outreach and community ministry.

For more than seven years, she led a Bible study for the female population at a local detention center.

Additionally, she served as a volunteer Bible study facilitator for the Department of Juvenile Services for two years, mentoring incarcerated youth ages 14 to 18.

Now mentoring many young women in her community, Christy leads both individual and group empowerment sessions, helping to inspire confidence and strength.

She was recognized as a bestselling author in 2024, contributing to an anthology along with 33 other women.

Beyond her ministry and writing, Christy enjoys traveling the world with her family and remains open to new opportunities to serve. She is committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of those she encounters.

Christy is excited about the opportunity to be a part of the graduation ceremony.

“I look forward to celebrating with the Class of 2025 and their families on such a meaningful day,” she said. “To the graduates: May your journey ahead be filled with purpose, passion and the courage to walk boldly as you step into your next chapter.”

Commencement on Friday begins at 10 a.m.
