WORTON — While Kent County High School’s football season ended prematurely because the roster became smaller and smaller, seemingly robbing the senior players, cheerleaders and marching band members of an opportunity to be honored, school officials have found an innovative way to celebrate these 12th graders.
A flag football game pitting the current team against an alumni contingent will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6 at Trojan Stadium.
Any alumni interested in playing can contact Athletic Director Kolyn Kirby at kkirby@kent.k12.md.us or 410-778-1394. Or, just show up.
Since this is a first, Kirby [Class of 2004] said he doesn’t know what to expect.
In a text message to The Evening Enterprise, Kirby wrote, “Depending on how many show up, we will play alumni vs. the current team. Or if tons of alumni show up, probably even graduation years vs. odd graduation years and mix the current players in.”
Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.
The cost is $1 for students and $3 for adults.
The concession stand will be open.
The Brigade of Blue will perform its halftime show with the theme of “Hope in Dark Times.”
The Senior Night celebration will be held at halftime.
