ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Washington’s men improved to 3-0 in Centennial Conference tennis with a 7-0 shutout of their hosts from Muhlenberg on Friday.
The Shoremen are now 8-4 on the season after winning their fourth match in a row.
The tandem of Jorge Urgal Zuleta and Demir Isiker came off the court first with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Washington clinched the point for doubles when Johannes Ludwigstorff and Kohl Perkins at No. 3 posted a 6-2 win.
Washington’s Oskar Wroblewski and Aaradith Ravichandran prevailed, 7-6 (7-5), after being pushed to a tie-breaker at No. 1.
The Shoremen did not drop a set in a sweep of singles.

Washington continues its conference schedule on Tuesday, April 8 (3 p.m.) when Franklin & Marshall (5-8, 1-2 CC) comes to Chestertown.
Clay Allen, a former assistant coach at Washington College (2017-20), is in his first year as head coach at F&M. He spent the last three years as the head men’s coach at Goucher, where he was the 2024 Landmark Conference Coach of the Year.
In the Centennial Conference preseason poll, two-time defending champion Swarthmore has been picked as the favorite to three-peat. The Garnet received all seven possible first-place votes from opposing head coaches and 49 points to earn the top spot.
Haverford grabbed the other first-place vote and secured 43 points as the projected runner-up.
Franklin & Marshall (37) and Gettysburg (29) also were picked to make the playoffs in third and fourth, respectively.
Rounding out the preseason rankings were Washington (27 points), Ursinus (17), Dickinson (14) and Muhlenberg (8).
The four-team Centennial Conference postseason tournament will take place May 1 and May 3 with the higher seeds hosting each round.

CHESTERTOWN — Junior attackers Mia Salvatierra and Piper Evans scored five goals apiece and collectively assisted on eight goals Saturday as Washington defeated conference rival McDaniel, 25-9, in women’s lacrosse.
The Shore ladies improved to 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference.
Salvatierra found the back of the net on the first shot of the game for a free-position goal with 1 minute, 14 seconds elapsed, and the home team led wire to wire.
Washington erupted for 10 first-quarter goals with scoring from four players — Evans (four goals), Salvatierra (three goals), Anna Wilson (two goals) and MaryCate Anson.
Host WC closed the half on a 7-1 run to stretch its lead to 17-6 at intermission, and pitched a 6-0 shutout in the third quarter.
Junior attacker Malery Andrews (Ocean City, Stephen Decatur High School) had a hat trick in the third quarter, and finished with four goals on just four shots.
Senior McKenna Seashole and sophomore Maddy Kissinger split halves in the cage, and each was credited with one save.
Anson won a career-high 13 draw controls
NEXT: The Shore ladies are idle until next Saturday, April 12 when they travel to Muhlenberg for another conference game.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Conference rivals Washington and Dickinson split a baseball twin bill on Saturday.
The Shoremen won the first game, 11-1, while their hosts took the nightcap, 7-4.
Washington is 17-10 overall, and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference.
In the opener, Washington pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the fifth inning to end a scoreless tie. Reese Hirsh doubled in the first run and scored what would hold up to be the winning run on Brady Wozniak’s sacrifice fly to center field.
A five-run top of the seventh extended the spread to 9-0. The big blast was cleanup batter Chase Ruppel’s three-run double to left field.
Dickinson scored its lone run in the last of the seventh to end the shutout.
Washington salted away the win with a pair of unearned runs in the ninth. After a two-out, bases-loaded walk to Scooter SanFilippo, the next batter, Wozniak, was hit by a pitch to plate Drew Kinsey.
Washington finished with 11 hits, including three each from SanFilippo and Zach Stolze (2 RBI).
Junior right-hander Nico DiGrazio picked up the win to improve to 6-0 on the hill. He gave up one run on eight hits and four walks while striking out four batters in 6 2/3 innings.
Matt Corda, also a junior righty, pitched 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief; his line included one hit, one walk and two strikeouts.
Dickinson (10-13) took the nightcap, 7-4, for its first win in conference play. Kaden Sigmon’s fifth inning blast that cleared the right field fence proved to be the winning hit.
Washington led 3-2 after Alex Dardaris’ two-run homer in the top of the fourth and 4-2 after Kinsey led off the fifth with a solo homer.
The Red Devils regained the lead for good, 5-4, after scoring three times in the last of the fifth punctuated by Sigmon’s two-out, two-run homer.
NEXT: Washington returns home Tuesday, April 8 at 3:30 p.m. for a single game against conference opponent Swarthmore.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Washington (6-16, 2-4 CC) and host Dickinson (13-13, 2-4 CC) split a pair of extra-inning softball games on Saturday.
The Shore ladies rallied with six runs in the top of the eighth inning to win the nightcap, 10-5. The key hit was Gracelyn Goforth’s one-out, bases-loaded triple to right-center field.
Jenna Harper came home on a throwing error to break the 4-4 deadlock. Then, Shannon Rosche singled through the right side to score Nevaeh Unzueta with what would hold up to be the winning run. With one away, Goforth came up big with the bases-clearing triple to extend the spread to 9-4. Goforth subsequently scored on Lilly Wenzel’s two-out double.
Dickinson got only one of those runs back in the home half of the eighth, courtesy of a two-out single.
Washington pushed four runs across in the top of the fourth to wipe out a 2-0 deficit. Wenzel singled home Goforth and Lilly Cook to level the score at 2-all, and scored twice more on two-out hits from Unzueta and Rosche.
Dickinson forced the extra inning after scoring once in the sixth and once in the seventh, with two away.
Senior Gen Kozub (4-4) went the distance in the circle to get the win.
The Red Devils won the opener in nine innings, 3-2.
The game was scoreless through the regulation seven innings.
Washington plated the first run when Unzueta, who was placed on second to start the inning per the tie-breaking rule, came home on a throwing error that allowed Rosche to reach safely on a bunt attempt. Guzman, pinch running for Rosche, was stranded at first after the next two Washington batters were retired.
Dickinson extended the game with a one-out single in the last of the eighth that knotted the score at 1-1.
Washington regained the lead, 2-1, on Wenzel’s one-out single that scored Goforth.
After Dickinson tied it up, 2-2, on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth, Eden Blanker delivered a walkoff home run over the left field wall.
NEXT: Washington is back home Tuesday, April 8 with a doubleheader against conference rival Haverford. The first game starts at 3 p.m.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — After falling behind 5-0 in the opening 11 minutes, host Muhlenberg responded with a run of 10 unanswered goals that bridged the first, second and third quarters on the way to a 14-8 defeat of Washington in men’s lacrosse on Saturday night.
The Mules (5-7) picked up their first Centennial Conference win of the season, while Washington’s men (6-6) dropped to 0-4 in CC play.
Sophomore midfielder Liam Ledwith led the Mules with a career-high five goals. Sophomore midfielder Chase Kusko totaled seven points on two goals and five assists, moving to within one of the school record of 32 assists in a season.
Washington’s 5-0 start included back-to-back strikes from Grant Matthews and Nate Winters just 9 seconds apart for a 4-0 advantage with five and a half minutes to play in the first frame.
The Mules’ comeback began with goals from Ledwith and senior midfielder Matthew Hochegger in the final 34 seconds of the opening stanza.
During its run of 10 goals in a row, Muhlenberg kept Washington off the scoreboard for more than 33 minutes
Kusko was involved in five straight goals during the game-changing flurry, scoring back to back to close the gap to 5-4 with 4 minutes, 13 seconds remaining in the half, and then assisting sophomore midfielder Jack Bill on the tying goal with 13 seconds to play before intermission.
Kusko also had the helper on Ledwith’s go-ahead goal 1:15 into the second half and then fed Bill a second time.
Back-to-back goals by Ledwith and one by sophomore attackman Ryan Neal capped the barrage for a 10-5 advantage with 4:04 to play in the third quarter.
Also for the winners, junior Max Kunnath made 10 saves to pick up his first win as a starter this season.
Nicky Bond and Matthews scored two goal apiece for Washington.
NEXT: Washington will look to get back in the win column Wednesday, April 9 when conference foe McDaniel (4-8, 0-3 CC) comes to Chestertown for a 7 p.m. game.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Washington’s women’s tennis team moved to the plus side of .500 with Friday’s 6-1 win at Muhlenberg.
The locals improved to 2-0 in the Centennial Conference, and 5-4 overall.
Meantime, Muhlenberg slipped to 1-7 on the season and is still looking for its first conference victory.
Shorthanded Muhlenberg forfeited at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
WC’s No. 2 tandem of Eva Kading and Rose Greco was the first pair off the court with a 6-0 victory. Then came Gaby Coutts and Jayda Browne at No. 1 with a 6-2 win. Isabella Sorhegui and Carrie Lord at No. 3 were winners by forfeit.
Lord also was a winner by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Washington’s other points came from Soleil Namunyola at No. 1, Browne at No. 2, Coutts at No. 3 and Sperandei at No. 5. Collectively, they dropped only two games.
Muhlenberg avoided the shutout by winning at No. 4 singles with an 11-9 super-breaker after splitting sets.
