GALENA — The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is asking for the public’s help as it investigates a structure fire Sunday afternoon, June 8 in the 100-block of North Main Street.
The fire at the two-story, mixed-use building originated in the second-floor exterior balcony, according to a news release from the fire marshal’s office.
Occupants discovered the fire at 12:47 p.m. and put it out using a fire extinguisher.
Galena Volunteer Fire Company responded.
According to the news release, a smoke alarm was present but did not activate because the fire’s point of origin, containment was on the outside of the building.
No injuries were reported.
Total loss is estimated to be $500 to the structure and $100 to contents.
