Chestertown Police

CHESTERTOWN — A 16-year-old male, on July 5, was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on a complaint of knowingly driving an uninsured vehicle.

Officer Ryan Thompson conducted the traffic stop at 6:08 p.m. in the 200-block of Morgnec Road.

CHESTERTOWN — Grafton Paul Baynard, 21, Cambridge, on July 6, was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol; driving while impaired by alcohol; reckless driving; driving a vehicle in a manner intended to cause excessive noise; and failure to display, reflect red color light on rear lamps and reflectors as required.

He was released on personal recognizance.

Cpl. Brandon McGinnis conducted the traffic stop at 9:34 p.m. in the 400-block of Cannon Street.

CHESTERTOWN — Brian Lamont Tucker, 53, Fort Washington, on July 16, was charged with knowingly driving an uninsured vehicle; driving while license is suspended; attempting to drive without required license and authorization; driving on suspended license and privilege; displaying expired registration plate; driving without current registration plates and validation tabs; and operating an unregistered vehicle.

Lt. Steve Linz conducted the traffic stop at 11:37 a.m. in the 700-block of Washington Avenue.

CHESTERTOWN — Jose Geraldo Do Rocha, 55, Philadelphia, Pa., on July 25, was charged with driving without required license and authorization.

Cpl. Brandon McGinnis conducted the traffic stop at 9:42 p.m. on High Street.

 

Kent County Sheriff

CHESTERTOWN — A suspect has been identified, but has not been apprehended, in a July 22 incident that involved a stolen vehicle and included a chase.

The suspect is identified as a 25-year-old Delaware man that frequents the Chestertown area, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. He is facing traffic charges that include reckless driving, speeding and fleeing/eluding police, as well as a charge of motor vehicle theft.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, Sgt. Scott Lockerman attempted to conduct a traffic stop on state Route 291 when the suspect failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed by the sheriff’s office and the Chestertown Police Department.

The suspect ultimately stopped on Route 291 in the area of the Chestertown Rail Trail, exited the vehicle and then fled on foot.

The vehicle was reported stolen from Delaware.
